About the role:
An excellent opportunity is available for an individual to join an outstanding team of Florey employees, and work within the Mental Health Theme. This position will report directly to Professor Andrew Lawrence (Division Head – Productive Brain).
The candidate will be responsible for
- Running cell birth dating and survival/differentiation experiments using BrdU/EdU assays
- Conducting histology assays (immunohistochemistry) on brain tissue of animals exposed to chronic alcohol (especially looking at DCX and Ki67).
- Preparing and contributing to preparation of grant applications.

About you:
The successful candidate will have:
- PhD in behavioral neuroscience or similar
- Experience in rodent handling and behavior.
- Experience with immunohistochemistry.
This position attracts a salary offer in the range of $83,974 (RO1) - $90,143 (RO3) commensurate with experience, plus generous superannuation of 14% or the option of 17% (subject to an employee co-contribution) in accordance with The Florey Union enterprise agreement. Employees are also eligible for substantial salary packaging (including living expenses, meal entertainment, accommodation, electronic devices, car parking and motor vehicles), together with three paid Institute days, annual leave loading, purchased annual leave, parental leave, and further benefits.
