RESEARCH TRIALS MANAGER

Parkville Contract

An exciting opportunity to provide quality research coordination in a newly established centre within the Melbourne School of Psychological Sciences.

The Research Trial Manager will assist in coordinating and managing research studies at the Contemplative Studies Centre (CSC) in addition to conducting research assessments using a range of measures. There are two flagship projects being undertaken by the CSC (starting at different times). The first will be a randomized controlled trial of 30-day commercial app-based meditation for addressing mental health issues and promoting well-being. The second (to be launched a while later) is a prospective longitudinal study examining the experiences of individuals as they progress in an existing meditation practice and exploring whether such experiences match traditional meditation maps. The present position will largely be related to the first project.

Key responsibilities of the role will include supporting the successful conduct of research projects including start up, protocol development, ethics applications, clinical trial registration, helping to supervise and train staff and students (where appropriate), tracking project expenditure against budgets, helping to maintain successful relationships with key stakeholders, ensuring project milestones are being met and contributing to the production of manuscripts for publication in scientific journals. Regular contact with participants, helping them to trouble-shoot any issues that they may encounter, and follow up during the period of the studies will also be required. The Research Trial Manager will keep detailed records and maintain data of a high quality and will assist with data analysis and summary. Other administrative duties will include, but are not limited to: assisting with recruitment tracking, ethics amendments, progress reports, and other regulatory reporting as required. Some out of hours work may be required.
