Commissioning Editor Nigeria

The Commissioning Editor will be responsible for developing content across a range of sections in the West Africa region, engaging with the African academy to become a world-class, open access source of inspired news content, freely available to the public and other media.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

DECISION MAKING

• Operate under the guidance of the Editor, Founding Editor and / or Regional Editor: West Africa
• Operate within the organisational and editorial policies and processes

POSITION INPUTS

Qualifications & Experience:

• Experience in journalism and editing
• Familiarity with health and development related journalism would be an advantage
• Experience in online production

Knowledge:

• A commitment to the charter of The Conversation and a vision for its success in Africa
• Knowledge of TC-Africa’s policies and procedures
• Knowledge of the regional political and policy environment.
• Knowledge of media environment
• A network of contacts and familiarity with key experts and publications in your preferred field
