RIC is a specialist team dedicated to enabling the University's research and enterprise mission working closely with our academics, professional colleagues, industry partners, funding agencies and government agencies. RIC operates University-wide across all ten Faculties and Chancellery. At a high level our capabilities include:
Strategic relationship development with Industry partners, including Innovation Precincts
Business development, research marketing and communications, intellectual property management and technology transfer mechanisms in partnership with the investment community
Proposal funding submission and post-award support including contracts and research accounting from a wide range of funders. Specialized services for larger schemes such as MRFF, ARC and NHMRC Centers, ITRPs and CRCs and international programs.

Research infrastructure asset management
Training and development programs for academic and professional staff

About the role
The Contracts Officer reports to the Manager, Research Contracts and is responsible for efficiently and effectively facilitating the negotiation and execution of research and other agreements and managing contracts through to completion.
The Contracts Officer must be able to cultivate productive and collaborative working relationships within the Research Contracts team and with other RIC staff to enable seamless progression of research transactions, and with relevant stakeholders in Chancellery, University Services and Academic Divisions.
You will have:
a law degree and/or demonstrated experience and expertise in drafting, negotiating, advising on contracts within a commercial or government environment or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education/training
A good working knowledge of contract law, and commercial contracting (with prior experience in commercial law, government, and intellectual property being desirable
Ability to apply initiative, judgment and problem-solving skills, particularly to issues in commercial contracting
Strong capacity to function as part of a team, including supporting other team members on a project-by-project basis
Proven ability to thrive in a changing and fast paced environment
