The Manager, Infrastructure and Facilities (the Manager) contributes to the strategic direction of the Faculty of Science capital and property programme and is responsible for the management of infrastructure and capital projects in the Faculty. Reporting to Manager, Strategy, Performance & Planning, the role oversees a large portfolio of capital infrastructure, including shared research platforms, across 65 buildings over three campuses (Parkville, Burnley and Creswick). The Manager will provide high level advice, influence and advocate for the Faculty's capital works project portfolio whilst also supporting University major projects including but not limited to the STEMM Hub and Life Sciences Precinct.
The STEMM Hub and Life Sciences Precinct will position the University at the leading edge of 'convergence thinking' and is intended to transform the learning experience of STEMM students, particularly the undergraduate cohort. The Manager will be responsible for building relationships which will influence and motivate stakeholders to plan and make decisions which are integral to the achievement of this vision.
The Manager will be the Faculty's representative on a range of project groups and committees and will sensitively manoeuvre through complex and conflicting stakeholder expectations effectively and quietly.
The Manager will develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the Faculty is positioned to achieve its broader operational and strategic goals, marshalling resources and orchestrating activities to accomplish agreed outcomes. This will include development and implementation of a Faculty master plan and framework for the identification and prioritisation of capital works projects in alignment with the University and Faculty strategic plans and budgets.
The Manager, Infrastructure and Facilities will be supported by a part time project officer, and Facilities and Operations Managers based in the Faculty's seven Schools.
