We are a multidisciplinary School organised into three key areas; Computing and Information Systems (CIS), Chemical and Biomedical Engineering (CBE) and Electrical, Mechanical and Infrastructure Engineering (EMI). The Opportunity

We do exceptional research here at MSE. Our Researchers are solving some of our world's biggest challenges and need grant funding to continue to progress. This is where you come in, we need you to drive research support activities that will enhance the impact and competitiveness of our research proposals. Your work will ultimately lead to better funding outcomes for MSE and have a direct impact on achieving our schools research growth goals.

Your next role

As the Research Officer in this 12-month Fixed term opportunity, you will be a trusted advisor to our Researchers. You are their go-to person with all things Research grant management. We're constantly refining our work to provide better results, so you need to be enthusiastic about research and stay connected to the research community, partnering across the university and with external partners and fostering an environment where our research is part of a wider university effort.

Your Profile

To be successful in this role, you will have excellent organisation skills and a focus on new ideas and continuous improvement. You will enjoy editing and drafting and display a critical eye for detail. You like to build relationships and partner with others to help them do their best work offering new solutions to focus on getting the best from our Researchers.

What you'll be doing

  • Providing expert support in MSE major grant programs (ARC/NHMRC/international and Philanthropic Schemes).
  • Acting as an advisor on these grants and advising on researcher queries.
  • Support the development and delivery of workshops that aim to share ways to improve the quality of proposals.
  • Be the point of contact for advice on grant budgets.
  • Advise on the evaluation of proposals and rejoinders against the grant criteria.
