Announced by the Vice-Chancellor at that 2019 Garma Festival, the Indigenous Knowledge Institute (IKI) is the newest member of the University's portfolio of Melbourne Interdisciplinary Research Institutes (MIRI). IKI's mission is to work in partnership with Indigenous communities to support and grow interdisciplinary research and engagement with Indigenous knowledge and strengthen Indigenous research capability.
The Institute Manager will support the Director to achieve the Institute's strategic and operational objectives, including fostering cross-University collaborations and external partnerships. They will work with IKI's academic program leaders to achieve research and educational goals and support implementation of new initiatives. In addition, the Manager will engage externally and with University staff to advance Indigenous knowledge, facilitate multidisciplinary research, and foster partnerships and research collaborations.
The Institute Manager will have a deep familiarity with Indigenous communities, peak bodies, formal and informal networks, and knowledge of the strengths and challenges related to Indigenous Australia. As the most senior professional staff member, the Institute Manager will possess the initiative and expertise to manage all operational matters of the institute as well as the ability to network and engage across the University and externally.
