About the team
The Legal team is situated within the Governance Directorate. The team provides comprehensive advice and support to the executive, academic and administrative units of the University on a broad range of legal issues.
About the opportunity
Reporting to UWA's Managing Counsel, you will join a team with four other lawyers to provide legal advice to the University. You will ensure legal services are aligned with the strategic objectives of the University and are consistent with service delivery and client satisfaction objectives. You will also draft, negotiate and advise on behalf of the University on a wide range of agreements, leases and other legal documentation and prepare various agreements relating to research, collaboration, funding and intellectual property. In addition, you will negotiate and advise the University in relation to Commonwealth and State Departments, statutory authorities and external third parties.
With admission as a legal practitioner in Western Australia with at least three years post admission experience, you will have gained experience in negotiating and drafting contracts and providing advice to large organisations. In addition, you will have an intellectual and conceptual ability to deal with high levels of complexity, to manage conflicting priorities, and have a proven ability to work to and meet multiple deadlines.
