Health professional courses must equip graduates with the knowledge, skills and attributes needed to meet the health and social needs of the communities they serve. Collaborative practice is key to the delivery of safe, efficient and integrated healthcare. The health challenges posed by chronic disease, the community's call for coordinated healthcare, and efficiencies required by healthcare institutions have accelerated the agenda for interprofessional education and practice (IPEP). Accreditation bodies now require evidence of interprofessional education within university programs. Integrated and evidence-based interprofessional learning opportunities are needed to prepare graduates to meet community expectations of patient-centred practice.
The Interprofessional Education and Practice Development Fellow will provide support to the Academic Director Interprofessional Education and Practice (IPEP) in the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences (MDHS). The IPEP Academic Development Fellow is responsible for assisting in the implementation of the Faculty's IPEP Strategy. The successful candidate will proactively assist with the development, coordination, and implementation of various IPEP activities within MDHS. They will be responsible for design, implementation and evaluation of a range of online IPEP resources, face to face learning and teaching activities, and associated assessment of competencies relating to interprofessional collaboration. The successful candidate will work closely with the Director of IPEP in MDHS to co-ordinate the IPEP activities aligning with the strategy. Skills in educational design, online learning resource development, evaluation and report writing are required. The candidate will also need to take a proactive approach to the management of IPEP projects, including the ability to keep projects on track and within scope. In order to achieve these goals, the incumbent will be expected to work closely with the Faculty's students, academic teaching staff, and learning and teaching professional staff.
