About the Role

The Musicology and Ethnomusicology Area of the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music seeks an outstanding candidate with a strong record of teaching in music history for a one-year, fixed term contract in 2020. The successful candidate will coordinate and teach a six-week intensive summer offering of the core subject Music History 2: C19th Music and Ideas (MUSI20198), coordinate and teach a musicology elective in their area of expertise, coordinate the World Music Performance breadth ensemble program and other duties as directed. Area of expertise is open, but ability to teach electives in early music or nineteenth-century music is preferred.

About you

You will hold a PhD degree in musicology (or related discipline), demonstrate ability to teach music history at the tertiary level and have relevant experience in curriculum design and development of educational resources. It is important you have high-level organisational and problem-solving skills, including the ability to prioritize workload and work well under pressure to ensure the timely delivery of projects.


Based in the beautiful Southbank Campus of The University of Melbourne, you will work nestled amongst Melbourne's major arts and cultural organisations and venues. You will have the convenience of great transport links to the rest of the city with the serenity of the Botanical Gardens close by.
