About the Role
The School’s practices are as reflexive as they are creative; its research, experimentation and conceptual development as rigorous as its attention to material, visual and spatial quality; its results thought-provoking, full of impact and highly regarded. Building on its achievements, the School is continuing to collapse the barriers between design and other disciplines to inspire an unprecedented dynamic in design studies, teaching, creative practice and research.
As a leading academic in fashion and textiles you will be key to progressing the undergraduate Fashion and Textiles program. You will foster a research culture in the Fashion and Textile course that results in high quality research outputs and will also develop a strong HDR program including practice-led research projects. Central to this role is leading the exploration, discovery and creation of new and distinct ways of knowing and understanding fashion and textile practices.
As an experienced academic leader you will have strong, well-developed interpersonal, communication and team building skills, as well as a capacity for strategic thinking and decision making. You will also have:
- Knowledge of the research field of fashion including theoretically informed, practice-based methods and knowledge of approaches to complex ethical and environmental issues within the fashion industry
- Experience in developing a HDR program within a relevant design field and in HDR supervision with evidence of several successful completions
- A strong research track record including a record of competitive grants
- Demonstrated successful teaching and/or management in a Fashion and Textiles program of a Design school.
Remuneration & Benefits
Base Salary Range: Associate Professor (Level D) $152,357 - $167,017 p.a. Professor (Level E) $189,445 p.a.
This role attracts 17% superannuation (pension) in addition to the base salary.

This position is full-time and appointment will be made on a continuing basis.
