About the Department of Biomedical Engineering

The Department of Biomedical Engineering is a vibrant and rapidly growing department within MSE.

We are working on some of the most challenging problems at the interface of engineering with life and medical sciences. The crux of this work being the application of interdisciplinary expertise and thought in order to make new discoveries and innovative solutions towards improved healthcare and social wellbeing. Our research covers the fields of biomaterials and tissue engineering; biomechanics and mechanobiology; bionics, biomedical imaging and neuroengineering; systems and synthetic biology. Our ultimate goal is to improve quality of life by resolving healthcare challenges.

The Opportunity

This newly created position will see you join our successful Biomedical Engineering department. As a specialist in the fields of medical bionics and neural engineering in this position you will deliver high quality teaching to our undergraduate and graduate programs as well as build a world-class, independent and well-funded research program. Dependent on qualifications and experience, the appointment will be either as Lecturer (Level B $102,967 - $122,268 p.a) or Senior Lecturer (Level C $126,128 - $145,431 p.a).

What you'll be doing

In this role, you will balance the priorities of developing a strong research portfolio in your field with delivering innovative teaching programs to our graduate and undergraduate students. You will lead the development and delivery of teaching programs for relevant subjects. Applying new and innovative teaching methods, you will help our students grow and empower them to unlock their full potential.

You will be an aspiring leader in neural engineering with ambition to publish in top quality journals and conferences, mentor research students and secure independent grant funding to support a program of research. Your collaboration in research within the School, across the University and with industry as well as with government agencies will drive success in this role.
