About the position

La Trobe University is seeking to appoint an emerging scholar in the field of Exercise Physiology, with the ability to teach within the ESSA-accredited curriculum and contribute to the research profile of the La Trobe Rural Health School.

The Bachelor of Exercise Science and Master of Exercise Physiology attracts high-quality students and uses innovative teaching methods to support student learning. Integrated learning approaches are used to reinforce evidence-based practice that is based on contemporary research. Human Movement and Sport Science research is a proven area of strength at La Trobe University, being ranked at the highest level (well-above world standard) in every Exercise in Research for Australia assessment (2010-2018). This field of research is supported by the dedicated Research Focus Area of Sport, Exercise and Rehabilitation.

In addition to completing high-quality research and scholarly activities relevant to exercise physiology, the Lecturer in Exercise Physiology will be expected to coordinate and deliver subjects within the discipline of exercise science and physiology, with a particular focus on clinical exercise physiology. The role will also provide the incumbent with the opportunity to work with established researchers and, where appropriate, contribute to the supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate research projects.

Skills and Experience

The applicant is expected to:

  • Have a PhD (or nearing completion) or equivalent accreditation and standing recognised by the University/profession as appropriate;
  • Be accredited with ESSA as an Exercise Physiologist.
  • Contribute to the effective co-ordination and teaching of subjects which provide a high quality learning experience that engages undergraduates and postgraduates; and
  • Demonstrate an ability to supervise, or co-supervise, honors and postgraduate students.
