Research Fellow Computational Entomology

We are seeking an experienced Research Fellow to will join an interdisciplinary team of academics conducting applied research aiming to help wool growers protect their sheep against fly strike. Applying advanced genomic sequencing and bioinformatic technologies you will be investigating the population biology of an important ectoparasite of sheep, the Australian Sheep Blowfly. You will have a strong track record in bioinformatics and population genetics, particularly in developing models to understand population dynamics. Your results will assist the development of regional resistance management plans and support parallel work on development of a vaccine against fly strike. The position will provide an opportunity to play a significant role in driving the success of an applied project, providing wool growers with practical outcomes for the control of this major sheep pest.
