The University’s Student Living Communities support a growing and diverse cohort of students and provide access to high quality academic support, leadership and civic engagement opportunities, cross community sporting and cultural events, and proactive well-being programs. The University is committed to ensuring that residential students maximise opportunities available to them through the appointment of a Head, Student Living for each distinctive residential community.
Heads of the Student Living Communities are responsible for creating a distinctive student experience which embraces connection to community, values students as partners and nurtures academic success and personal growth. Each Head Student Living supports approximately 600 residents.
Heads of Student Living Communities will demonstrate exceptional leadership experience, have a passion to make a difference and demonstrated capacity to exercise judgement and make decisions in non-routine situations. In addition, they will have a postgraduate qualification in a relevant field; high level representation, interpersonal and cross-cultural communications skills; and the proven capacity to lead the planning and delivery of a program of cultural, sporting and learning events and activities that inspire residents. A police check and working with vulnerable people certification are mandatory.
Heads of Student Living Communities report to the Executive Director, Student Experience and each Head manages a team of Student Living Coordinators, Student Living Officers and Residential (Student) Leaders.
Three full-time, five-year contract positions are available in Sandy Bay, in the north across Launceston and Burnie, and in the Hobart CBD. Out-of-hours engagement and regular travel within Tasmania are required.
