About the role

The Student Recruitment Officer (Equity and Rural Liaison) as part of the Onshore team provides support to External Relations equity programs. The role will focus on Commonwealth targets in relation to enrolment of students from equity backgrounds, in particular the Commonwealth Higher Education Participation and Partnership Program (HEPPP). The incumbent will participate in outreach activities related to equity groups in regional Victoria to assist in the development of strategies to attract students from low socio-economic backgrounds and rural areas.

With a strong commitment to the principles of customer centric service provision, the Student Recruitment Officer (Equity and Rural Liaison) supports the recruitment and conversion of prospective undergraduates from equity backgrounds. Developing key relationships with a wide range of partners in schools in regional areas, the incumbent will deliver information on University programs, entry schemes and scholarships.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication, interpersonal and event management skills and be innovative in implementing regional engagement strategies.

The Student Recruitment Officer will monitor Federal and State policy related to the higher education sector and prepare briefing documents to inform recruitment and admissions strategies. They will also be responsible for undertaking research, writing proposals and preparing briefing documents as required, particularly for the Senior Managers in External Relations. Together with a small team of professional staff, the Student Recruitment Officer will support the business analysis and governance functions across External Relations.

About you

You will have:

  • Completed a relevant tertiary qualification or extensive relevant work experience and/or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education and training.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including ability to convey complex information to a variety of audiences including public speaking skills.

  • Experience and demonstrated ability to implement and review student recruitment strategies.

  • Experience in utilising CRM and digital strategies for student recruitment.

  • Proven ability to thrive in a changing and fast paced environment.
