We are seeking an enthusiastic Platform Manager to lead the operations of the Materials Characterisation and Fabrication Platform (MCFP) at the Department of Chemical Engineering. This position is a maternity leave backfill for a period of 9 months.
This role will see you leading the strategic and operational direction of the MCFP across the university and with the external user base. The focus of this position will be to develop strategies that both enhance the effective operation of the MCFP and promote the platforms capabilities.
Your specialist knowledge in Materials Science, Nanobiotechnology and Engineering disciples will be key in providing advice on maintenance and upgrades of platform equipment, running training sessions for users, supporting reporting requirements and leading the team of six Technical support staff.
You will proactively foster collaborative partnerships across the University of Melbourne and external universities, research institutes and industry clients. These relationships will be key to drive an increased userbase and the success of the MCFP.
You have experience in a similar role that has seen you leading technical projects or projects that deliver scientific technical supports. Your project management skills are well-defined with a great track record in delivering on planning, implementation and management.
You display leadership qualities that are effective with both the supervision of staff and the ongoing engagement of key stakeholders. You will encourage a collaborative approach to your work and are proactive in seeking out new opportunities to form mutually beneficial partnerships.
You are a natural strategic thinker, we are keen to see you lead the generation of new ideas on how the Platform can operate at its optimal.
