The opportunity

As the Pro Vice-Chancellor, College of Humanities and Social Sciences, you will provide effective leadership and strategic management of the College, within the framework of the University, and co-contribute to the mission and strategic objectives of the whole University as a member of the University's Executive team.

To be successful in this role you will have a Doctoral degree with an excellent research record of accomplishment, academic credibility and international mana in a cognate discipline. You will demonstrate exceptional leadership of diverse teams, with the ability to bring out the best of those you manage. Proven success in the timely delivery of forward thinking strategic initiatives, including managing transformational change and showcasing innovation, is essential.

Key to your success is a demonstrated capacity to work effectively within a senior team, enabling 'whole of university' thinking. Also essential are excellent communication and relationship management skills across all levels, and the ability to engage successfully with external stakeholders in a progressive but challenging environment. You will skilfully drive research performance across a range of disciplines, developing contemporary learning and teaching environments that enhance the student experience. You will also demonstrate an awareness and understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and an ability to embrace and lead the University's strategy in relevant and practical ways.

With national responsibilities, you have the flexibility to choose your preferred location on either of our Auckland, Palmerston North or Wellington campuses.
