Griffith Aviation, which forms part of the School of Engineering and Built Environment, has been providing tertiary qualifications to the Aviation Industry for 25 years and is known worldwide for its innovative and student focused teaching. This discipline has grown rapidly in recent years and now manages over 500 full-time equivalent students each year in both undergraduate and graduate programs. The aviation industry is growing at a rapid rate globally and especially in the Asia-Pacific region and thus requires significant numbers of highly educated new staff. Griffith Aviation is at the leading edge of providing the education, training and research needed to maintain the safety and sustainability of the aviation industry into the future. Griffith Aviation has an impressive Industry Advisory Board with representatives including Qantas, QantasLink, Virgin Australia and Queensland Airports Limited. Griffith Aviation offers both undergraduate and postgraduate programs in the areas of pilot training and aviation management. Our Bachelor of Aviation prepares students for employment in the aviation industry and, together with the Graduate Diploma of Flight Management, for work as a commercial pilot.
There are three positions available across three levels: Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, and Associate Professor. The positions are required to convene/teach undergraduate and/or graduate Aviation courses, and undertake high impact research in areas of expertise, including publication of scholarly work and generating research funding in Griffith Aviation's areas of interest in a professional and ethical manner. These are continuing, full-time positions based at the Nathan campus. The level of appointment will be dependent on qualifications and experience.
The successful applicant will have a PhD in an appropriate discipline (or near completion of a PhD); or a suitable degree qualification together with a record of aviation industry experience appropriate to the level of appointment. You will be motivated and have a strong commitment to teaching, research/scholarship and industry service that will complement Griffith Aviation. Ideally, the successful applicant will possess significant experience in university teaching and have experience in pilot training (including as a professional pilot) or in aviation management. The successful applicant will display excellent teaching/scholarship in Aviation (both at undergraduate and graduate levels).
Lecturer Level B: $94,361 - $112,057 per annum. Salary package including 17% employer superannuation contribution: $110,403 - $131,108 per annum. Senior Lecturer Level C: $115,593 - $133,289 per annum. Salary package including 17% employer superannuation contribution: $135,244 - $155,949 per annum. Associate Professor Level D: $139,183 - $153,337 per annum. Salary package including 17% employer superannuation contribution: $162,845 - $179,405 per annum.
