The Griffith Institute for Tourism (GIFT) was launched in early 2014 to further broaden and deepen Griffith University's expertise and research performance in tourism. This role will take direction from the Project Leader and the Big Data Leader of an externally funded project and lead the development of the algorithms for aesthetic value rating of images. The position will assess the previous work undertaken and explore new methods for algorithm development. The ultimate aim is to develop a functioning system in which incoming images can be rated according to established beauty attributes. This is a fixed term (one year), full time position based at the Gold Coast campus.
The successful applicant will hold a PhD in AI, Computer Science or relevant area. The appointee will have demonstrated abilities in issue identification, research, advanced analytics and problem solving skills and developing innovative, sensitive and practical solutions or advice for resolution. In addition, the successful applicant will have a high level of written, interpersonal and communication skills as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team environment.
Research Fellow, Grade 2: $94,361 - $112,057 per annum.
