The Role and Responsibilities
** As the Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor you will join the Chronic Infectious and Inflammatory Diseases Research Program. This consists of 7 independent but interlinked research groups with a focus on respiratory research including studies on chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, lung cancer, asthma, respiratory infections and lung regeneration, and on chronic viral infections of importance to human health such as HIV. You will contribute to research and teaching within a School environment and work with research teams/programs and partnerships in the School. You will be required to undertake research activities in line with the University's research strategy that emphasises relevant and translational research. You will develop a successful new research group within the School's research Program in Chronic Infectious and Inflammatory Diseases, preferably in the study of viral pathogens of importance to human health, and/or the immunological basis of infectious or inflammatory diseases.
Skills & Experience Required
You will have a prominent national research profile and to be considered for an Associate Professor level, will need to be able to demonstrate a strong international profile. You will have sustained success in attracting research grants in the study of viral infections of major importance to human health. In addition to your research expertise, experience in undergraduate teaching would be desirable. Experience in supervising higher degree by research candidates and success in research leadership will be essential to your success in this role.
