The opportunity

We are currently looking for an Associate Lecturer to be responsible for teaching in the field of zoology, terrestrial ecology including field ecology and general biology in the School, which may include the production of teaching materials, conducting tutorials, practical classes, demonstrations, workshops, student field excursions, clinical or studio sessions, and student consultation, marking and assessment activities. The Associate Lecturer will undertake research in areas of expertise, including publication of scholarly work. Success in this role requires collaboration with the environmental science discipline team and external providers.

This is a fixed term (up to three years), full time position based at the Gold Coast campus. Female applicants are particularly encouraged to apply and while this position is advertised as full time, a fractional appointment with flexible working can be negotiated.

About you

To be successful within this role, you will have an Honours degree or higher qualifications in the broad field of Environmental Science, Terrestrial Ecology, Spatial Modelling/GIS or a closely related field, or equivalent qualifications and/or professional experience. A PhD in a relevant field is desirable. You will have demonstrated knowledge, skills and experience in contributing to teaching at the tertiary education level. The successful candidate will have the demonstrated ability to conduct and publish quality research. You will be able to demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills and contribute to the positive culture and aspirations of the School and University.

Salary range

Level A: $66,391- $89,641 per annum. Salary package including 17% employer superannuation contribution: $77,679 - $104,880 per annum.
