Aerospace Division's (AD) Structures and Materials Test Centre (SMTC) is a national asset, the largest and best equipped facility of its type in Asia Pacific. The SMTC has, in over 70+ years of operations, accumulated an impressive track record of research and client outcomes.
In this role, you will lead the University's research projects, collaborative research inputs and represent University interests. You will report into the Associate Dean of Engineering, Aerospace Engineering and Aviation Discipline and liaise with a range of partners. You will also provide assistance with short talks and seminars to Commonwealth Personnel. Situated in the School of Engineering, Aerospace Engineering and Aviation, the Joint Chair (RMIT JC) in Structures and Materials Experimentation, together with a joint Chair provided by the Defence Science and Technology (DST JC) will have oversight and be informed by the Joint Management Committee (DST/RMIT JMC) to develop, sustain, manage and lead a science and technology capability in structures and materials experimentation.
You will have the ability to engage, lead, and develop graduate research students and research staff to deliver high quality research outcomes. A proven record of senior management of research within the aerospace sector and a high level of achievement in research and innovation in aerospace structural and materials engineering will be essential.
You will be an expert in your field and have an excellent record of research publications in Structures and Materials Experimentation, or Fatigue and Fracture or Quantitative Fractography. Furthermore, we will be looking for those individuals who possess a PhD or equivalent, and professional qualifications in one or more relevant disciplines along with strong teaching and learning capability to succeed.
