About the position
The School's Nursing and Midwifery students receive their undergraduate education at a variety of sites, including Bundoora and metropolitan Clinical Schools. The Clinical Laboratory service is responsible for the Bundoora Clinical Learning Laboratories, plus supports and services the laboratories at the Clinical School sites. Reporting to the Clinical Laboratory Coordinator, this position will manage the day to day functioning of the Bundoora Clinical Learning Laboratories. The duties of the position will include the preparation, setting up and take down of equipment for all teaching sessions within the Bundoora Laboratories. The role will also include the maintenance of OHS requirements within the laboratories, ensuring that the area is an organised and safe operating environment. You will be involved with orientating staff and students to the laboratories and in the use of the equipment; preparing and providing technical support for simulation sessions; monitoring stock and ordering supplies; and the maintenance and care of the laboratory equipment. You will also provide support to the Clinical Laboratory Coordinator in promoting positive change and in meeting the demands of the Clinical School laboratory requirements.
Skills and Experience
You will possess a recognised nursing qualification with subsequent relevant experience in a clinical laboratory or an equivalent alternate combination of relevant knowledge, training and/or experience within a clinical laboratory or nursing environment. You should have previous experience and knowledge of the variety of medical equipment and consumables utilised within undergraduate nursing teaching education programs. You will be required to provide high quality technical laboratory support, be able to prioritise effectively and have an understanding of simulation theory, equipment and technology.
