The Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS) offer a series of internships across its different degrees including an internship-like subject called ‘The Future of Work.’ FASS seek to develop its Work Integrated Learning (WIL) opportunities, which aim to embed within its curricula experiences and skills allowing students to transfer what they have learnt into practice. To support expansion, diversification and innovation within this area, FASS has identified a need for greater strategic coordination across its work-integrated activities.

The Director, Work Integrated Learning has a key role in providing academic leadership in support of high quality work-integrated learning opportunities. They will focus on working on WIL initiatives and the development of student employability, including establishing models of industry engagement. They will remain engaged in and contribute to research into WIL, including the future of work, the restructuring of labour, changing work and employment relations.

The main responsibilities:

• Coordinate and teach into key units of study that offer internships and internship-like experiences.

• Promote WIL opportunities to current students including planning and coordination of information sessions and promotional materials.

• Coordinate various communications, forums and events at different stages of the student study cycle.

• Develop and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with internal and external partners to increase support and opportunities for FASS students in WIL activities, building industry relationships and industry sponsors for student placements.

The main skills/experience required:

• A doctoral level qualification in a relevant discipline.

• A record of accomplishment of high quality research and publication on contemporary transformations to work and employment.

• Ability to initiate, develop and recommend WIL into curriculum development, subject design, teaching delivery and assessment.

• Experience in learning and teaching, curriculum design and assessment of student learning outcomes at a tertiary level relevant to internships and work-integrated learning, drawing from disciplines in the humanities and social sciences.

Base Salary Range: $125,150 to $143,725 pa (Level C)

This role attracts 17% superannuation (pension) in addition to the base salary.

This position is full-time and appointment will be made on a fixed term basis for 36 months.
