The Role & Your Responsibilities
The Student Program Manager will provide high level advice to the Centre for Innovative Justice and Graduate School of Business and Law on the Clinical Legal Education program, which links to the Juris Doctor program including Postgraduate Business Internship, the Legal Research Project, the study tour, other student placement opportunities and any other relevant courses. The role will support the Mental Health Legal Centre, the Centre for Innovative Justice and the Law and Advocacy Centre for Women to develop and expand clinical opportunities for students across a range of areas. The role will also induct, train, manage and supervise students as part of Clinical Legal Education, Legal Research Program and Postgraduate internship and other courses. The role will also contribute to ongoing CIJ research, advocacy and communications and be part of a supportive, close-knit team who are passionate about their work.
Skills & Experience Required
You will have demonstrated managerial experience in a Community Legal Centre, including practical experience establishing and delivering programs or services within a Community Legal Centre environment. You will also have extensive exposure in developing programs and in the supervision of law students and volunteers in a Community Legal Centre environment in relation to case work, policy, law reform and research activities. Key to this role will be your excellent relationship and liaison skills, exemplary communication skills, and ability to think analytically and creatively. Furthermore, you will have demonstrated project management skills, including the ability to coordinate and implement projects, including stakeholder management, implementation, negotiation, evaluation and reporting. A University degree in Law is essential as is a commitment to social justice and human rights and the promotion of innovative strategies for delivering justice. Postgraduate qualifications in Public Policy or Law (completed or progress towards completion) is highly desirable.
