The School of Nursing and Midwifery (SoNM) is a national leader in nursing and midwifery education, research and scholarship with one of the largest undergraduate, pre-registration nursing degree programs in Australia and a Bachelor of Midwifery course. The School also offers a range of Postgraduate Nursing and Midwifery Courses.

This position is a conjoint appointment with Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD) located at Blacktown Hospital, situated within the Nursing and Midwifery Research Centre. The role will provide visionary and strategic leadership in research and translation of research and evidence based practice into practice and models of care and will work in partnership with the WSLHD Executive and the university to establish the centre and design and execute research programs.

The role is expected to grow and develop a culture of research in nursing and midwifery demonstrated by an increase in research activity and publications by WSLHD staff and an enhanced research profile for WSLHD and Western Sydney University locally, nationally and internationally. The role will enhance the future of nursing and midwifery practice in the context of evidence based practice, shifting models of health care and workforce environment.

The University and WSLHD are seeking a professorial leader to make a distinguished and dynamic contribution to clinical and research leadership in nursing in Western Sydney. Applicants for professorial positions must hold a PhD in Nursing or a relevant discipline and have a distinguished research career as evidenced by publication track record and success obtaining funding for research.

Applicants must also have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a clinical setting; demonstrate achievement in clinical leadership; the ability to lead practice development in health services and have expertise and experience in nurse education in university-based programs. This is a full-time, ongoing position located at Blacktown Hospital.

Remuneration Package: Academic Level E - $219,555 p.a. (comprising base salary $186,386 p.a., 17% superannuation and leave loading.)
