Data and analytics play a central role in helping APRA achieve its mandate of protecting the Australian community by establishing and enforcing prudential standards and practices, and promoting financial system stability. The Data Analytics unit provides analysis, insights and tools to enable data driven decision making in supervision, resolution and policy implementation.
APRA collects prudential data from more than 4500 regulated entities including banks, insurers and superannuation funds. Our integrated approach to delivering insights sees us exploring and using data at the entity, industry and macro-economic levels, informing entity financial analysis, industry overviews and development of evidence-based policies.
APRA is also undertaking a data transformation program that will deliver a world-class analytics platform that enables us to efficiently collect, store and access the data we collect.
At APRA you will get unparalleled insight across the financial services industry, working with an evolving industry-wide data collection approach and gaining exposure to government agencies such as the RBA, ABS, ASIC, and more.
You don’t need to be an IT or technology expert to join our Data Analytics team. Roles cover data analysts, data scientists, business analysts, data quality specialists, data collection designers, data taxonomy specialists, actuaries, economists, stress testing professionals, SAS developers, business process designers and data administrators, along with people and team leaders from across these disciplines.

If any of these sound like you, we want to hear from you:
• You’re in a role where you leverage your analytical skills to develop insights and ideas (bonus points if these skills are currently being put to use in the financial sector and/or you’re using tools such as SAS, Power BI, R, Tableau etc.)
• You’re a financial professional currently working in a regulatory reporting team
• You’re a business analyst with great communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• You’re a data scientist including working with big data and predictive analytics
• You’re using data to identify emerging risk trends and develop key risk indicators
• You have data modelling or management skills, or data governance experience • You lead high-performing teams providing business insights • You have worked in, or consulted on, a major data transformation project • You have experience in determining and delivering a Data Strategy • You are passionate about working with data and lifting the profile of data in the organisation
