The School of Languages and Linguistics seeks to appoint a 3-year fixed term Teaching Specialist (Periodic) position with the capacity to coordinate and teach German language and culture subjects, primarily coordination and some teaching of German 3 (GERM10001/20004) and German 4 (GERM10002/20005) and any other teaching as required in Cultural studies or German 1.
The Teaching Specialist will contribute to teaching excellence and will have responsibility of the coordination of these subjects, including leading casual academic tutors, preparing and conducting tutorials, related assessment work, consultation with students and the ongoing curriculum development of the subjects in question. The successful applicant will be a committed and engaging educator with the ability to engage students from different backgrounds and the capacity to undertake ongoing curricular development.
The incumbent will also be given opportunities to contribute to the research outputs of the program, including research publications, conference papers and grant applications. The Principal Tutor will receive ongoing mentoring in all aspects of an academic career.
The successful applicant will be a committed and engaging educator, with the ability to teach at the Undergraduate level. They will have an appreciation of the disciplines subject matter and the capacity to undertake individual and collaborative research projects congruent with the direction of the discipline.
