The Director Commercialisation & Intellectual Property supports the Executive Director Partnerships in the development and delivery of DST’s strategy and practice for intellectual property and commercialisation. This includes leading a range of strategic and operational activities including being accountable for commercialisation initiatives covering licensing, new ventures, start-ups and spinouts, relationships with new and current commercialisation partners, and DST commercialisation policy and strategy. This position provides leadership to the technology transfer and IP management team, in the delivery of high-level and professional services and effective achievement of organisational priorities to deliver Defence capability outcomes.

The position also provides expert advice on all aspects of licensing, spinouts and start-ups at both strategic and operational levels. This position provides strong leadership, guidance and management to a team of professionals. Further Responsibilities in this role:

•Providing expert advice on business engagement strategies, related to internal relationship building, enhancing engagement and delivering on the DST's technology transfer and intellectual property objectives.

• Driving the strategy and program of identification, development, protection and management of intellectual property

• Developing and directing programs focused on technology transfer and maintaining strategic, and value-adding, partnerships and alliances to drive the attainment of technology transfer goals

• Driving engagement, leveraging and strategically positioning opportunities for technology transfer within DST’s leadership team and within Divisions

• Oversight over the IP portfolio and acting as the escalation point for IP issues or high-level Commercialisation management

• Taking a holistic view of the DST’s strategy for technology transfer to provide strategic support and develop capability at the senior level

This position will build commercial relationships and opportunities between industry and DST Group and will involve the creation, negotiation and delivery of opportunities based on DST intellectual property (IP) including licences, start-up companies and other commercial arrangements. The position will be responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with relevant contacts, industry organisations and the investment community.
