The opportunity

The Centre is seeking a research fellow to undertake research on a project for quantum communication with trapped ion funded by the Australian Research Council. The project's mail goal is the realisation of a quantum repeater node using trapped Yb ions and integrated optics and perform quantum communication experiments between two separate ion traps. The position is also required to undertake some teaching and higher degree research supervision.

This is a fixed term (up to four years), full time position based at the Nathan campus. The successful candidate will be appointed at either Grade 1 or 2 depending on experience, skills and qualifications.

About you

The successful applicant will have a PhD or equivalent qualifications/work experience in a relevant field. You will have demonstrated experience in ion trap quantum information or related field (Grade 1), or extensive research experience including leadership responsibility (Grade 2). You will have a publication record (Grade 1), or well established track record of publication in esteemed peer-reviewed journals, and/or high quality creative outputs (Grade 2). The successful applicant will have high level interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication skills. You will have demonstrated knowledge, skills and experience in teaching at tertiary level.

Salary range

Research Fellow, Grade 1: $72,344 - $84,882 per annum. Salary package including 17% employer superannuation contribution: $84,643 - $99,312 per annum. Research Fellow, Grade 2: $92,511 - $109,860,per annum. Salary package including 17% employer superannuation contribution: $108,239 - $128,537,per annum.
