PhD Scholarship available in Corporate finance, Management and Financial decisions
The successful applicant will work with supervisor Dr Van Vu and be interested in finance and capital market research, particularly in the area of corporate finance. The research topic is negotiable and may cover one of these areas:
- corporate finance
- bank loans
- liquidity management
- financial decisions
- investment decisions
Dr Vu’s research interests include issues related to bank loan contracts, bond contracts, and the choice between public and private debt finance. Her other research interests include corporate liquidity management and recently market micro-structure.

The candidate must have an undergraduate honours degree or a research masters in finance completed within the last five years. First class honours is preferred. Scholarship applicants must be eligible for acceptance by the University of Newcastle into the PhD program, and must be citizens or permanent residents of Australia.
The successful candidate must be able to commence their PhD before 31 March 2019.
$27,082 per annum (2018 rate) indexed annually. The living allowance scholarship is for 3.5 years and the tuition fee scholarship is for four years. Scholarships also include up to $1,500 relocation allowance, if applicable.
