The Multisensory Communication Program in the MARCS Institute for Brain, Behaviour and Development in association with the HEARing Cooperative Research Centre (HEARing CRC) is seeking a postdoctoral researcher with high level skills and expertise in the broad area of speech perception in elderly people (with/without hearing-impairment).

The MARCS Institute for Brain, Behaviour and Development is an interdisciplinary research institute of Western Sydney University. Our programs of research investigate human communication through the themes: sensing and perceiving, interacting with each other, and technologies for humans. Researchers in MARCS come from many disciplines including developmental psychology, language science, music science, cognitive neuroscience, and biomedical, electrical, electronic and software engineering.

The HEARing Cooperative Research Centre (HEARing CRC) is a unique consortium of 21 research, clinical and industry organisations. The HEARing CRC was initially funded 2007-14 through the Commonwealth Government Cooperative Research Centre Programme, and is in its last year of a five year extension to continue developing new knowledge about hearing impairment and language development and new devices, therapies and service delivery models to improve the prevention, detection and remediation of hearing disorders. The post-doctoral project covers three Hearing CRC research area: XR3.3.3 Therapies To Improve Speech Perception In Elderly Adults With Auditory Processing Disorders.

The MARCS Institute in conjunction with the HEARing CRC is seeking an energetic, forward thinking, dynamic, and innovative scholar to take up this postdoctoral fellowship. The successful applicant is expected to be developing a strong international standing and research reputation, based on an excellent research background in psychology, electrical engineering (signal processing), psycholinguistics or cognitive sciences.

The position will be based on the Bankstown campus.

Remuneration Package: Academic Level B $110,594 to $130,495 p.a. (comprising Salary $99,777 to $117,818 p.a., plus 9.5% Superannuation, plus Leave Loading)
