The Department of Economics and Finance has its finance research rated ERA 4 "above world standard". The department offers a Bachelor of Finance and Master of Financial Analysis (Investment) and Master of Financial Analysis (Financial Risk Management), along with majors in financial management, financial planning and economics. The department is also responsible for delivering foundation subjects at both undergraduate and postgraduate level in three disciplines: economics, finance and statistics. These foundation subjects are taken by all undergraduate and postgraduate business students. Hence, the department is looking for early career academics who not only have the demonstrated ability to contribute to the research standing of the department, but also to contribute the higher order teaching and coordination skills required to teach finance to both finance students and non-finance business students alike.
About the position
Both positions will be required to develop, coordinate and teach a high quality learning experience that engages students through a variety of methods. The successful candidates will also contribute to the development of the research culture of the School, facilitate links between the School and industry, and participate in administrative and service activities as appropriate.
Skills and Experience
- Completion of a PhD in Finance (or cognate area), and relevant extensive professional experience and/or professional registration.
- Demonstrated effectiveness in curriculum development and in teaching in finance or statistics, with a commitment to excellence in teaching and student learning.
- Evidence of high quality and/or high impact research conducted and published or otherwise disseminated, relative to opportunity.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise, or co-supervise, honours and postgraduate students.
- Sound analytical skills with an ability to communicate complex information clearly both orally and in writing.
