Academic Director: Strategy & Operations

at Kaplan Business School

Kaplan Business School is a private higher education provider and an integral function of the global Kaplan network that educates more than 1 million students each year.

In Australia, KBS is a growing school, genuinely focused on student success and academic integrity. In pursuit of these objectives, KBS offers an open and supportive leadership team that embraces innovative methods of teaching and learning across four campuses.

KBS is currently seeking an Academic Director of Strategy & Operations. This is a full-time position, reporting to the Academic Dean, and can be based at any of our four campuses: Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane or Adelaide.

This is our most diverse discipline, comprising marketing, tourism, health, project management, entrepreneurship and other areas that relate to the strategic direction and operationalisation of business.

The role grants sufficient autonomy so that the successful candidate can pioneer contemporary pedagogical methods, to actively mentor two Academic Heads, and to provide expert guidance to lecturers and subject coordinators.

To succeed in such an endeavour, our expectation is that applicants will have:

  • Relevant qualifications (such as a PhD or equivalent).
  • Management experience within an education environment.
  • Practical industry experience in one of the discipline areas noted above.
  • Demonstrated abilities to connect with and influence remote employees.
  • Membership of at least one professional association, preferably with recent involvement in organising committees.

Day to day, this role will entail recruitment, motivation and development of lecturers; curriculum reviews; participation in formal academic meetings; involvement in projects; stakeholder engagement; and extensive administrative duties. Above all, these responsibilities demand a remarkable eye for detail so that quality is enhanced and our students’ experience enriched.

It is a requirement of all Kaplan employees to complete a National Police Check and hold a valid Working with Children Check in your relevant state. All costs will be covered by the employer.
