About the job

The Professor, Business Information Systems will be focused on providing outstanding and energetic leadership in research, teaching and other professional activities within the Faculty. Working with other senior staff, the position will foster a culture of innovation and excellence and advance cross-disciplinary programs in Business Information Systems in the Faculty and more broadly the University. In this role, the appointee will maintain and develop partnerships with a wide range of industries and public institutions.

The Professor, Business Information Systems will also maintain a significant program of public and institutional engagement, working with other Swinburne researchers, to strengthen and amplify existing and acknowledged research strengths of the University, in accordance with its strategic plan. The position is expected to foster and participate in activities that build further on existing links with government, business, communities and professions in Australia and internationally. The appointee will be expected to maintain an internationally significant record of publications, and a nationally competitive record of research funding. The position will also make a strong contribution to the mentoring of early career researchers and in attracting and supervising relevant higher degree candidates. The research foci of the discipline are digital business, information systems for social impact, and project management. In addition, the appointee will have teaching responsibilities, which will involve preparing and delivering classes and assessing students in key areas such as business analysis, data analytics and database management both on campus and online. The appointee will be expected to have a commitment to and expertise in new technologies and the future of information systems in the business space.

About the department/faculty/organisational unit The Faculty of Business and Law is committed to delivering excellent education courses, quality research with impact and engagement activities with deep industry connections. Entrepreneurship, innovation and social impact underpin all of our activities and infuse our undergraduate and postgraduate programs. The faculty comprises two schools and two research centres: • Swinburne Business School - Department of Accounting, Economics and Finance - Department of Business Technology and Entrepreneurship - Department of Management and Marketing • Swinburne Law School • Centre for Social Impact Swinburne • Centre for Transformative Innovation • Australian Graduate School of Entrepreneurship

About you To be successful in the role, you will have: • An earned PhD in Business Information Systems or a closely related field • An outstanding national and international reputation as a leader with an internationally recognised track record of research in the discipline area as evidenced by an extensive range of publications in top-tier journals and by measurable high impact outcomes • Demonstration of a significant track record in attracting and managing external research income through competitive grants and/or industry collaboration A full list of the selection criteria is available within the position description
