Salary: $69,148 - $93,830 p.a. plus 9.5% superannuation
We are seeking a Research Fellow to join the research program of Associate Professor Christopher McDevitt within the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the Peter Doherty Institute. The research program seeks to elucidate the role of metal ions in host-pathogen interaction and involves close collaborations with the University of Queensland, University of Technology Sydney and La Trobe University.
This position will involve the characterisation of metal binding proteins involved in regulating bacterial gene expression by a combination of microbiological, biochemical and biophysical approaches. This role, Research Officer, will report to Associate Professor Christopher McDevitt and will conduct studies characterising key metalloregulatory proteins and pathways in Streptococcus pneumoniae and Staphylococcus aureus. The successful candidate will be expected to design, undertake and analyse experiments of independent and original research. The successful applicant will also assist in the training and mentoring of Honours and PhD students
