About the role

An exciting opportunity to join Australia's number one University and lead innovative, large scale transformative projects.

The successful candidate will Architect and oversee several major network initiatives, own and evolve the Network Domain Roadmap, and help shape the University's Infrastructure Investment and new service offerings.

The Universities network infrastructure is large and complex and encompasses Data Center, Campus Access, Research, IoT and Collaboration services supporting over 75,000 users and a variety of affiliate organisations across Melbourne and nationally.

The University has several exciting projects kicking off in 2018 covering:

  • The Separation and Expansion of the Software Defined Research Network to meet the future demands of HPC, Cloud Computing and Petascale storage.
  • The planning, architecture and delivery of the Universities Next Generation Software Defined Data Centre and push to the cloud.
  • Building out an IoT-as-a-Service offering to meet the diverse need of our Campus and constituents.

The Ideal candidate will have a willingness to continually learn and solve challenging problems working with a variety of stakeholders and technologies to come up with innovative solutions and architectures.

About you

  • Relevant post graduate qualifications in Computer Science or related disciplines and experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant industry experience and/or education and certifications (CCIE/JNCIE/ACE/VCDX, or equivalent)

  • Proven Experience in architecting large-scale Campus Infrastructure and Modern Data Centers within a complex environment

  • Demonstrated experience with MPLS, BGP, VXLAN, Cloud connectivity, IoT & Software Defined Data Center Architectures

  • Knowledge of and Architecture experience with a wide range of infrastructure, automation, orchestration and virtualisation technologies covering Cisco, Palo Alto, F5, Mellanox, Cumulus Linux, Infoblox, VMWare (NSX), Openstack, RedHat, Splunk, Ansible & Python

  • Knowledge of Virtualised Networking (VNS), NFVi, & VIM concepts and architectures

  • Extensive experience creating architecture, strategy, blueprints, and roadmaps for Infrastructure solutions through strong leadership; with the ability to effectively influence decisions, drive project delivery and achieve positive business outcomes

  • Highly developed interpersonal skills and influencing skills including the ability to develop effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders and staff from different levels within the organisation.

  • Proven ability to thrive in a changing and fast paced environment
