The Research & Innovation Portfolio oversees research and research training across the University through the development and implementation of RMIT University's strategic research priorities and managing research systems and reporting requirements. The Portfolio supports the research activity of staff and student researchers with professional development, collaboration and funding opportunities, ethics and responsible conduct compliance, contract development, intellectual property, project completions and profiling.
The Role and Your Responsibilities
The Sector Manager is responsible for the establishment and development of research and technology linkages between RMIT researchers and commercial and not for profit partners. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting the strategy for building research alliances with partners to create value for the health, Biomedical and ICT Sectors, this will include identifying research excellence in RMIT and matching these research capabilities with the needs of end users, both commercial and not for profit entities. You will liaise with other sector leads and research initiative managers in the Research Engagement & Business Development team along with college, school and ECP BD in teams to ensure an aligned approach to develop the best partnership opportunities for delivery of RMIT research with impact to the sector.
Skills & Experience Required
The ideal candidate will bring to the role extensive skills and experience in the Health, Biomedical and ICT Sectors and a current understanding of Sector R &D needs. A strong background and experience in working with academic groups and brokering partnerships with external partners will be critical to your success in this role. Furthermore, key to this role will be extensive skills in networking with R&D leaders in academic, industry and government sectors. A demonstrated drive to develop research partnerships which deliver impact is essential.
