The School of Environment and Science is a foundation School of Griffith University within the Sciences Group offering innovative and quality science education. The School is home to the disciplines of Bioscience, Ecology & Evolution, Marine Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Forensics & Archaeology, Applied Mathematics & Physics, Environmental Planning & Management and Earth Sciences. We offer a wide range of pioneering degree programs for both undergraduate and postgraduate studies including Environmental Science, Marine Science, Forensic Science, Biomedical Science, Medical Science (pre-medicine program) as well as a comprehensive Bachelor of Science. The School has an excellent research profile in the sciences and maintains close linkages with cognate research centres and institutes, with many of the academic staff in the School also being members of these research centres: Environmental Futures Research Institute (EFRI), Centre for Quantum Dynamics, Griffith Institute for Drug Discovery (GRIDD), Institute for Glycomics, Australian Rivers Institute, and Queensland Micro- and Nanotechnology Centre (QMNC). This is a fixed-term (3 years), full time position based at the Nathan campus.
The School of Environment and Science is seeking to appoint a Lecturer to assist in the development and delivery of the School's clinically orientated courses. It is envisaged that the position could be filled by a professional with experience in the field of clinical or medical sciences. The School of Environment and Science offers programs and courses that are delivered to students wishing to pursue careers in graduate medicine, clinical sciences, physiology and allied health. The School offers a Bachelor of Science (Clinical Science major), Bachelor of Forensic Science, Bachelor of Biomedical Science and a Bachelor of Medical Science which provides direct entry into the MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery). The School also offers a postgraduate course in clinical physiology with a clinical placement. The successful candidate will be expected to teach into, and participate in, courses within the clinical sciences major offered by the School. This includes the teaching and development of the following courses: Human Biology, Human Anatomy, Clinical Pathology and Human Physiology.
The successful applicant will have a PhD degree in the field of Biochemistry, Clinical Sciences, Physiology or Pathology, along with relevant postdoctoral experience. You will be an innovative teacher with demonstrated tertiary teaching expertise, a proven ability to effectively convene and teach large undergraduate classes and a proven research publication record in the Biosciences. Experience in a medical or clinical setting is desirable. However, applicants without clinical experience are also encouraged to apply.
Lecturer, Level B: $90,697 - $107,706 per annum. Salary package including 17% employer superannuation contribution: $106,116 - $126,017 per annum.
