These top-up scholarships are available in a number of locations to high quality students who are enrolled in a PhD program at an Australian University.

Each year, CSIRO supports PhD Scholarships for students to work on projects relevant to priority CSIRO research topic areas. Students are co-supervised by researchers in an Australian university and CSIRO. These are top-up scholarships and are available to high quality students who are enrolled in a PhD program at an Australian University and have a Research Training Program (RTP) scholarship or university equivalent. Applications for top-up Postgraduate Scholarships in 46 priority research areas for funding commencing in 2018 are now open. Details of the research areas and on how to apply are available at here (Job Reference No’s 47414, 47416-47425).

These top-up scholarships offer $7,000 per year plus a generous operating budget (full scholarships available in certain circumstances).

Pre-Requisites/Eligibility:

To be eligible to apply you must have (or expect to gain):

  • first class honours or equivalent in a relevant research area
  • admission to an Australian University as a PhD student;
  • a Research Training Program (RTP)scholarship or university equivalent; and
  • an university supervisor who is willing and able to supervise you

International applicants must have the appropriate immigration approvals to allow them to take up the scholarship.

Applications will be assessed on:

  • Quality and relevance of the student project
  • Academic calibre of the student
  • Availability of appropriate university supervision
