UTS Faculty of Law is recruiting a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to conduct research that supports the overall strategic intent of the new Centre for Media Transition. This will include independent research as well as research on projects initiated by the Centre on topics such as media freedoms, diversity and pluralism and the need for regulation and policy to adapt to new environments.
About the Centre
The Centre for Media Transition (CMT) is an interdisciplinary unit being established jointly by the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. It will explore and develop responses to the dramatic and ongoing movements wrought by digital disruption to the media industry, especially the practice of journalism and the business models supporting it, law and regulation and the role of the fourth estate in Australian democracy.
About the role
The Postdoctoral Research Fellow is a core member of the Centre and will conduct research that relates to the Centre’s overall strategic intent and the research program being developed for the period 2017-2019. This will include independent research as well as research on projects initiated by the Centre. It is expected that a priority in 2017 will be research on media freedoms/restrictions on speech.
Remuneration and Benefits
Base Salary Range: $99,924 to $114,343pa (Level B).
This role attracts 17% superannuation in addition to the base salary. Employee benefits include flexible work practices, child care centres, generous parental leave and salary packaging opportunities.
This appointment will be on a 36 month fixed-term, full-time basis.
