The Role and Responsibilities

The School Services Officer is responsible for supporting the day-to-day activities of the School. As a member of the School Services team, the incumbent will work under the direction of the School Services Coordinator to provide a high level of service across processes and tasks which support the effective operation of the School. Such services include, but are not limited to, purchasing and supplies, event organisation and support, asset/space management and committee support.

In addition to general operational support, this position is the designated primary contact for a specified group of Associate Deans to provide a range of agreed services, as designated by the School Services Coordinator. Each team member within the School professional staff team is expected to provide support to other teams during peak periods, when feasible.

The incumbent is expected to work in a highly collaborative manner both with RMIT and external stakeholders. The position is accountable for development of efficient streamlined process and implementation of systems and protocols that are consistent with the University's protocols, policies and procedures. The incumbent will contribute to high quality service provision as well as cultural and work practice changes that support the College's strategic directions.

Skills & Experience Required

To be eligible to apply, candidates must have a degree with subsequent relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.

Candidates should have substantial experience in providing high-level administrative support in a university environment or similar large and complex organisation covering: diary, resource and travel management, correspondence, document development, event management and high-level stakeholder liaison, and demonstrated organisational, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills and the proven ability to liaise effectively with a wide range of management, staff and external parties on a range of issues.
