The Research & Innovation Portfolio oversees research and research training across the University through the development and implementation of RMIT University's strategic research priorities and managing research systems and reporting requirements.
The role and your responsibilities
The Commercialisation Manager works with the Research Translation Team to implement the University's goals, including the intellectual property plan and operational frameworks, achieving objectives and deliverables in line with the broader University strategy.
The position is responsible for assisting to improve RMIT's impact through commercialising intellectual property and research outcomes. This includes identifying research to be licensed and providing expert advice on commercialisation to RMIT researchers. The role includes building internal and external networks to identify opportunities for research commercialisation, market research and license negotiation.
Skills and experience required
The ideal candidate will bring to the role professional skill and knowledge of research translation, commercialisation and market research. Your demonstrated experience in negotiating commercial and legal arrangements for research translation will be critical to your success in this role. Furthermore, key to this role will be your skills in building internal and external networks in relation to research translation and commercialisation of intellectual property. Your ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments, efficiently manage multiple requests for information and assistance and to work under pressure of various deadlines will be essential.
A relevant degree and/or experience with commercialisation in a University or large organisation is required. A PhD in a science or engineering field or an MBA is desirable.
