Situated within the College of Science, Engineering and Health, the School of Science came into existence on January 1, 2016 and comprises the previous schools of Applied Sciences; Mathematical and Geospatial Sciences; and Computer Science and Information Technology. The School encompasses the disciplines of Chemistry, Physics, Food Sciences and Molecular Bioscience, Mathematics and Geospatial Sciences, and Computer Science and IT.
The Role and Your Responsibilities
The School of Science at RMIT invites applications for the position of Senior Lecturer in Geospatial Sciences. The successful applicant will be an active researcher, with a track record of high-quality research publications and demonstrated potential to supervise research students and attract competitive government and industry-based research funding. The appointee is also expected deliver engaging and high-quality teaching in his or her area of specialisation, and have enthusiasm for developing innovative new approaches to teaching and learning. The appointee will actively establish and maintain collaborations, links, and partnerships with academic, industry and professional communities both nationally and internationally. Within the university, appointee is expected to work collaboratively and collegially with fellow academics within the Geospatial Sciences discipline, the School of Science, and the University more widely.
Skills & Experience Required
The successful candidate will be an outstanding researcher and a passionate teacher with expertise that complements the established strengths of the large and vibrant Geospatial Sciences discipline group in the School of Science. Applicants with an established track record of research expertise in geographic information visualisation, cartography, geovisual analytics, or related areas are especially encouraged to apply.
