The School of Health and Biomedical Sciences comprises three Academic Clusters (Allied Health, Applied Health, and Biomedical Sciences). The School undertakes teaching and research across eleven disciplines: Cell Biology & Anatomy, Chinese Medicine, Chiropractic, Exercise Science, Laboratory Medicine, Medical Radiations, Nursing, Osteopathy, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Pharmacy and Psychology.
The Role and Your Responsibilities
This challenging role will be dynamic in nature and will take a leading role in the teaching and research efforts related to Nursing within the School of Health and Biomedical Sciences. For the first three years this position will also be responsible for leading staff within the discipline to further develop their research and teaching activities. In the role of Discipline Leader, you are expected to lead the discipline effectively and to contribute to the School Leadership Group guided by the "Guiding Principles for School Operation" (2016-2020)
The Professor/Associate Professor will maintain and advance scholarly, research and professional capabilities as relevant to the Nursing area. This role is also expected to establish and maintain memberships, links and partnerships with academic, industry and health professional communities.
The successful candidate is expected to work collaboratively and collegially with fellow academics within the School and beyond to lead the area of Nursing and its application to important and topical research questions. Where reasonably possible, collaborations with other Schools and relevant research Centres/Groups should be sought.
Skills & Experience Required
To be considered for this position it is essential that you have a proven record of outstanding academic and/or professional achievements in the field of Nursing and will possess a PhD in in a relevant field. You must also be eligible for professional registration in Nursing in Australia
Completion of the Essentials in Tertiary Teaching Practice program or equivalent is preferred though if the appointed candidate does not meet this requirement at time of appointment, they will be supported to complete this as a requirement to fulfill their probation.
