ABOUT US

VCS Foundation, trading as the Australian Centre for the Prevention of Cervical Cancer, is a not-for-profit organisation with over 50 years of expertise in cancer prevention through pathology services, cancer screening and vaccination registries. We have helped to reduce the mortality rate from cervical cancer in Victoria to half that of the rest of Australia. Our primary purpose is to support Australia and nations across the Indo-Pacific region to achieve the World Health Organization's global goal to eliminate cervical cancer.

THE OPPORTUNITY

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Research and Administrative Assistant to join the Population Health team on a full time basis and support global projects targeting cervical cancer elimination. You will be responsible for:

  • Serving as the research administration officer (RAO) for the ACPCC as an Administering Institution of the NHMRC.
  • Assist with research activities such as grant and ethics submissions, drafting of documents, preparation and submission of papers for peer-review, and maintenance of an electronic reference database.
  • Provide high level, confidential secretarial and administrative support to the Medical Director, VCS Population Health.
  • Assist with administrative support for grant submission and reporting.
  • Provide administrative and research assistant support for the Centre for Research Excellence in Cervical cancer Control, including liaising and collaborating with other chief and associate investigators from other institutions.
  • Provide administrative support for the SUCCESS ECHO including liaising and collaborating with partners in the community of practice.
  • Support the East Melbourne reception desk and other duties as required.

We are looking for someone with the following qualities:

  • Relevant qualification with work experience or an equivalent combination. Interest, experience or qualifications in public health would be highly regarded.
  • Demonstrated high level attention to detail.
  • Extremely well organised with excellent time management skills.
  • Ability to liaise effectively with a variety of senior people within and outside of the organisation.
  • Enthusiastic, proactive and ability to problem solve.
  • Able to meet multiple and changing deadlines.
  • Strong computer skills and knowledge of desktop publishing software packages (e.g. Illustrator) is an advantage.
  • Previous experience in a research environment and familiarity with grant application and ethics processes is desirable but not essential.
