We're looking for a talented bilingual podcast producer to create engaging and creative content for our readers.
The Conversation Indonesia is a non-profit media organisation that produces and shares evidence-based news and analysis from academics and researchers on our online platform, social media channels, and through podcasts and email newsletters. All of our content is free to read and republish. We provide training for academics to increase their capacity to become a public voice. We share knowledge from the research sector to the public to improve public debate and to promote the use of evidence in policy making in Indonesia and the region.
Founded in 2017, we are part of a global network spread across five continents that provides a new journalism model, a unique collaboration between academics and journalists sustained through partnerships with the higher education and research sector, private philanthropy, governments, corporations and with support from readers.
Reporting to the head of editorial with general supervision from the executive editor, the podcast producer will be in charge of our podcast production to support our audience engagement activities
This position is a fixed term of one year (with a three to six-month probation) with a possibility of extension.
Main Responsibilities:
- Produce short and long podcasts.
- Edit and support the production of podcasts by the editorial team
- Lead development of podcast contents, including research
- Collaborate with the social media team in developing social media content, ensuring audience targets are met.
- Produce audience reports for editorial team
Additional responsibilities
- Carry out technical tasks that are needed to ensure successful implementation of The Conversation’s editorial strategy and objectives.
- Carry out other ad hoc technical tasks requested by the executive editor and head of editorial to achieve The Conversation’s strategic objectives.
- Be an ambassador of The Conversation Indonesia, building and maintaining relationships with our partners in the research and higher education sector, government, business, philanthropy and civil society.

Technical competencies
- Excellent writing and research skills
- Excellent audio production skills
- Able to write scripts in Indonesian language and English.
- Ability to host on-camera and produce off-camera
- Use data and performance metrics to enhance content creation
- A deep understanding of Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube and mobile news products and how conversations are crafted in these spaces.
The ideal candidate will have proven experience in podcast production. The candidate preferably has three years of work experience. However, fresh graduates are encouraged to apply
